   According to comScore, Facebook is one the leading social networking site based on monthly visitors, it has overtaken main competitor MySpace in April 2008. ComScore reports that Facebook attracted a record 130 million unique visitors in May 2010, it was an increase of 8.6 million people. According to Alexa, the ranking of website among all websites increased from 60th to 7th in worldwide traffic, from September 2006 to September 2007, and is currently ranked in 2nd place. Quantcast ranks the website in 2nd place in the U.S. in traffic and Compete.com has ranked it into 2nd place in the U.S. The website is very popular amongst people for uploading photos, with over 50 billion uploaded cumulatively. In 2010, some believed that Facebook has a social network that posed the most grave threat to security, more than MySpace, Twitter, and LinkedIn.

   
   

   Facebook is known as very popular site for social networking in several English-speaking countries, including Canada,the United Kingdom and the United States. In regional Internet markets, Facebook penetration is the highest in North America upto 69 percent which is followed by Middle East-Africa which is 67 percent. The website has won many awards such as placement into the "Top 100 Classic Websites" by PC Magazine in the year 2007,and also winning the new "People's Voice Award" from the Webby Awards in 2008.
