I have been reading a lot about the disease we call aids in several hundreds and thousands of journals and magazines, but I never came to know the fact why do people celebrate world aids day specifically on December 1st. I even carried out various discussions on the said topic with my friends and colleagues, but nobody could provide me with a satisfactory answer to this question. Although, I am fed up of discussing this topic with people anymore, yet I want to know the history of Aids day. Does anyone know why do we celebrate world aids day on December 1st? Is there any logic in it? Your help will add some knowledge to my brain!

Well, the question is quite interesting as different people have different views on it. First of all, the World Aids Day is aimed at focusing awareness creation of the Aids epidemic. First announced in 1988 by the World Health Organization (WHO), at this very day, people use to wear red ribbons on clothing as a symbol of support to the affected of this disease. Regarding, why people celebrate this day specifically on 1st December, there are various myths, but the common view is that it is celebrated on 1st of December each year, because at every ending of the year, donors, organizations and individuals make resolutions for the next year, so it plays a pivotal role to get ample support for aids affected people.
