While updating the URL structure, I'm getting an error, i.e. udate your wordpress htaccess. Would someone please help me with this, and guide me what is wordpress htaccess and how to update it?

.htaccess is a configuration file for use on web servers running the Apache Web Server software. When a .htaccess file is placed in a directory which is in turn 'loaded via the Apache Web Server', then the .htaccess file is detected and executed by the Apache Web Server software. These .htaccess files can be used to alter the configuration of the Apache Web Server software to enable/disable additional functionality and features that the Apache Web Server software has to offer.

When you change the permalink structure, it has to rewrite the URLs, and redirects old URLs to new ones. If your wordpress directory has write permissions, you may not need to update the .htaccess manually, but in case it's protected, you'll have to place the wordpress rewrite rule manually in .htaccess.

.htaccess file is found in the root of wordpress directory.

Create a new notepad file and name it "1.htaccess" and upload it on your root directory or httpdocs through FTP and then rename it and remove "1" so the file name becomes .htaccess

    Hope this will be helpful!
