I am just starting the 504 meeting for my 6th grade daughter.  Not sure what to ask for.

    Hi there,
    The law is a civil rights act, requiring all agencies that accept federal public funds to follow.  Since nearly all Catholic schools accept no federal funds, then they are not required to follow the 504 plan.

    A student with Asperger's Syndrome would get reasonable accommodations that would prevent the agency from discriminating against him because of his/her disability.  There is enough variation within Asperger's Syndrome that the exact plan would differ from student to student.  You would expect things like:  time out when overwhelmed without punishment, clear direct instructions for all activities, with directions repeated, extended time on projects/assignments, study guides prior to tests, organizational help, and the like.
