    Hi,
Moving around by bus, in Greece in general, is not one of the most pleasant experiences.. the schedules are followed "approximately" and sometimes it can be rediculously crowded. Not to mention that thefts are an everyday phenomenon. So, be patient, estimate that you need more time than what you are told, and guard your personal belongings. If you have a map of the city it can be relatively easy to move around. Their website has been significantly upgraded and now there is an english version as well (about time) :-) Tickets cost €0.50 if you buy them beforehand, from the kiosks, or €0.60 in the bus (student rates €0.25 and €0.30 respectively). Sometimes a bus ride can reward you with unexpected scenes.
    Hope it helps

S/he asked about bus from Thessaloniki to Sofia, not how to move around in the city. About the city buses, I think you are exaggerating.
