Windows gives an option for upgrading to its latest operating system that prevents the loss of all the files in your personal computer. However, only Windows Vista Home Basic and Premium versions can be upgraded to Windows 7 Home Premium and Windows 7 Ultimate. Up gradation of Windows Vista Home Basic to Windows 7 Professional will require to uninstall Windows Vista and to install a new Windows 7.

Windows 7 is the latest operating systems of Microsoft which is for use on personal computers that include business and home desktops, netbooks, laptops, tablet PCs, and media center personal computers. Official announcement of Windows 7 manufacturing was on July 22, 2009, and it was available in the market on October 22, 2009. At the same time, Windows 7's server counterpart, Windows Server 2008 R2, was released.

Installation of Windows 7 has the same procedure as other Microsoft operating system.

Step 1: At first step you will insert Windows 7 DVD in your DVD-ROMs drive and then restart your computer. Windows 7 will start to boot up and progress bar will display on the screen of the monitor

Step 2: The next step you need to select your language, currency format and time, input method or keyboard. Select your required settings and go to next.

Step 3: Here you will see the option of install or repair Windows 7 on the screen of the computer. As we want to install we will select "install now".

Step 4: Now read the license terms and condition then click I accept license terms. Further you press next to continue.

Step 5: Here you will see two options. Custom (Advanced) or Upgrade. You will choose Custom (Advanced) as it is required to install.

Step 6: Select where you would like to install Windows 7 on hard drive if you have more than one drive or partition. Furth more, you have to select the appropriate drive and click the button.
