can rabbits have tomatoes
Tags: rabbits, Tomatoes
Surprisingly, rabbits should not be fed tomatoes, be it the plant itself of the delicious fruit that humans world round enjoy. The reason for this is that tomatoes are high in sugar, which is difficult and unnatural for rabbits to digest. Such easily digested sugars upset the pH balance within the rabbit's stomach causing all kinds of uncomfortable for your little critter.
This imbalance leads to bloating and even worse, diarrhea. Rabbits are naturally predisposed to eating grains and eat hay and similar things in the wild. It should be known that the leaves and vines of the tomato plant are toxic and if eaten could be very harmful to your rabbit.
