centre of mass of two particle system
Tags: centre, Mass, Particle, System
The center of mass or mass center is the mean location of all the mass in a system. It is an imaginary point where one can assume the entire mass of the given system or object to be positioned. Consider a system consisting of two particles, mass m1 and m2, interacting via the potential V(x1 – x2), depends on the relative positions of the particles. For a two-particle system, the centre of mass lies between the two particles and on the line joining them.
