coby mp822-4g welcome stays on & says please wait how do i get it to work

i have a brand new coby mp822-4g and i plugged it into the computer with the usb cable provided and turned it on.  the welcome screen came on and says please wait, however, it has been that way for over 8 hours and i still cant change the screen or do anything with it.  i have reset and it goes right back.

    I read somewhere to charge it for and hour or more, so i'm trying that but m,y usb port isn't even recognizing it nor is the mp3 giving any indication that it is charging but i'm forging on!

    Don't buy this product. It's junk and the Coby reps will keep you on hold for an hour and then not answer your question. Then they want you to send it back to them and PAY to have it shipped back!!!! Plus! You have to pay to ship it! AND wait 8 weeks to receive the item again! I'm taking it back to Big Lots, which was my first mistake, and going to Walmart or Best Buy! They stand behind what they sell!

    I had all the same problems that everyone in here is having I took mine back to Big Lots afew times and that is an ordeal in its self. I think these things are cursed. Becaused After all that two weeks later it fell out of my pocket and cracked the screen. So it wasnt ment to be for me lmao.

    i had a similar problem but if you go to cobyusa.com and search it under mp822 there's a download tab, download the updates and follow the instructions and it'll work again

    my brother and i got these for christmas his never actually worked and mine was fine for a while. but now iv been tryin to charge it and the computer doesnt recognize that its plugged in and the mp3 doesnt give any indication that its chargin. best solution DONT BUY COIBY PRODUCTS!!!!!!!!!

    Go to cobyusa.com and search mp822 in the search box.  Choose firmware update and download the file then unzip.  download the update instructions.  Follow the instructions and it works (I had to do it twice).

    I have the exact same problem as everyone else.(frozen screen says please wait/welcome). I can't update the firmware though, because my computer doesn't even recognize that the mp3 player is plugged in, probably because it is still frozen. This is so annoying!
