Creosote is an oil, so it is composed of many water-soluble chemicals. Creosote can be washed off hands and clothing by using hot soapy water. If stains still persist then a small amount of white spirits or mineral turpentine can be used. This should not be put down the household sink, but disposed of with other solvent waste.
