   I am a natural tow head.  As I age, my roots are taking on a steel grey appearance.  Not pretty.  I have had high and low lights over the years and my hair has become damaged looking and so light that my face disappears in it all.  Yesterday, I became brave and decided to have only dark brown highlights.  OMG, I am now a brunette.  What a shock.  I will be washing my hair frequently with the hope that it will lighten each time.  I am beginning to believe no one in this town knows what the he--they are doing when it comes to hair color.  Don't do anything drastic when it comes to hair color.  Stay as close to what you were born with as you can.  If the stylist knows his/her trade, you can get great highlt,lowlt effects.  The operative word here is knows!!  Good luck.
