   In  the Republic of Ireland St Patrick's day is a national holiday.The first mega Saint Patrick's Festival  in Ireland was held on 17 March 1996. With the passage of time, number of days of Saint Patrick's Festival increased. In  2009 five day festival saw about1 million visitors, who took part in festivities that included concerts, outdoor theatre performances, and fireworks.The biggest celebrations outside Dublin are in Downpatrick, County Down, where Saint Patrick is believed  to be buried.
