For the last two years, our maple tree has started to drop millions of seed pods which are germinating on our lawn, in our gutters and in our plant beds.  Is there any way to stop the tree from making these seed pods?

I am here looking for the same answer.   Last year and this year are beyond belief.   It is raining seed pods.   I am going to call Michigan State University and see if they have an answer or if not I hope they would be willing to work on providing a means of birth control for the monster in my back yard.

YES, THERE ARE CHEMICAL AGENTS DESIGNED TO STOP FRUIT ON TREES WHEN SPRAYED ONTO THE STAGE WHEN THEY ARE FLOWERING. THEY DON'T REALLY LOOK LIKE FLOWERS ON THE MESQUITE TREES, BUT YOU WILL SE DANGLING GREEN THINGS THAT WILL BEGIN TO OPEN UP THEIR HUNDREDS OF TINY SEEDS. AND THIS IS WHAT TURNS TO SEED PODS. THE TRICK IS TO SPRAY THEM WHEN THEY OPEN, BUT NOT TOO LATE, OR TOO EARLY. THE FLOWERING OCCURS ABOUT 1 MONTH OR SO AFTER THE NEW LEAVES APPEAR.
JUST MIX THIS PRODUCT AS DIRECTED, ABOUT 12 OZS PER 2 GALLONS OF WATER IN A TANK SPRAYER AND WET THEM DOWN. IF YOUR TREE IS VERY TALL, YOU MAY NEED TO USE A GARDEN HOSE SPRAYER ATTACHMENT TO REACH.
