Question:

my zanussi iz161w washing machine keeps tripping,

does anyone have an idea what might cause it or should i just buy a new one? I have had thias for 8 years now without problem.
I would recommend zanussi to anyone as they are trusted machines.

    I doubt you have a problem with the washing machine. Motor driven appliances will often trip a gfi when operating properly. This is because of the inductive currents created by the motor, especially during high current draw (start up).

    The gfi's electronics are not intended to react to this type of issue, but they sometimes do. This is why the National Electric Code does not require GFI receptacles for laundry receptacles, even though the rest of the basement receptacles do require GFI.

    Plug it in elsewhere with a heavy cord, as short as possible, until you can get your electrician to take a look. He'll probably suggest removing the GFI.
