    Good morning!
Today is the day where maybe most of you here marked the calendar, for it is the day when each had finished each ones’ ladder of education that will lead to success.
Good morning dear children, parents and teachers. I am glad to be here talking to you again for another year to talk about education being the tool of changing lives.
Many of us have our own definition of the word education. This year’s theme says: “Education: Changing Lives”
Indeed education plays a very big role in everyone’s life. Through education, we learn a lot of things; discern a lot of things and succeed in many things.
The other night, I have watched a movie entitled “The Blind Side”. It was a story about a poor young boy from Memphis who had a tough life and never had a real education. Because of a family friend he was accepted in a Christian School across town, not because he was good at school but because a football coach believed in him. When he was accepted, he was a low learner, no friends, different in color because he’s black and the rest of the students are white and most of all he was homeless. But then, because of God’s love through a well-off family, he was adopted, accepted in a Christian home and was given the opportunity to change his life by educating him and leading him to what he is now.  He came from a place where nobody made it out but he strived to learn to make it out and change his life for better. At present Michael Oher is a promising National Football League star in Mississippi. An interview I have watched last night, he was asked to say something and he said and I quote; “Stay in school, work for good grades, and never give up. And you too can be successful in life.” (Micheal Oher)
Now, let me borrow Michael Oher’s line: “Stay in School, work for good grades and never give up!”
Stay in school: How? Maybe, is one of our many puzzles in life especially when we are confronted with poverty and economic crisis? But the fact that we are sent to school by our dear parents, we are not to waste it but to savor it and use the opportunity to stay in school. We can stay in school when we remain faithful to be present in every learning activity we have and not to go to some internet café and spent all day there, while parents continue to believe you’re at school. We can stay at school when we are able to resist the temptation to roam around and temptation to play.
Work for good grades: is basically our main task in staying in school. To parents, good grades is one of their rewards in their investment for sending you to school; Working for good grades is our manifestation of thanksgiving to God for giving us parents such us them.
Never give up: Must be our attitude towards education if we hope to change our predicament in life, this is not just both to parents and the children but to teachers as well.
Michael Oher’s life is just one of the many wonderful stories of how education changes lives. But let me add, education must not be use to dominate but to disseminate learning so that other people too can experience a life-changing experience that would lead to success in life.
Once again, good morning and congratulations pupils and parents and the molder of these children, our dear teachers as well.
In behalf of the Pastoral Team of this church, I would like to express our salute to all of you for a job well done! Thank you and Good day to all!
