   Hi There,
   It is not possible for me to give you a 100% correct diagnosis without seeing the unit, but chances are, let us say 85%, that one or more of the audio power amplifiers has failed.  That is a common problem with audio amplifiers.  In fact, of used receivers that are sold on internet auctions and garage sales, about 90% of them have this problem.  It is caused by an accidental short on the speaker output connections or overpowering the amplifiers by excessive drive or too many speakers hooked to one amplifier.
   
   I am not certain whether this receiver has the JVC power module or discrete amplifier designs.  In either case, the replacemenet of the module or output transistors may be necessary.
   
   The burning that occurred near the volume control area when you jumpered the fuse port (naughty boy) probably fried one or more of the emitter resistors in the power amp.  You should never short or jumper a fuse; the fuse is built into the reciever for protection; when it is shorted out you have lost protection and caused further damage.
   
   I am sorry to say, but IF the power amps are gone, the repair cost is more than the cost of just buying another used - or even new - receiver.
