Stephanie Spears was the former girlfriend of child actor Manuel Benitez. Spears and Benitez had a son together in 2001. In 2004 Spears was beaten to death with a dumbbell. Benitez and their son disappeared after the incident. He was named as a suspect in the murder of Spears. Benitez had been featured on America's Most Wanted several times.

In December 2008, Benitez was killed during a gun battle with police, while using the now seven year old boy as a human shield. The boy took a bullet in the thigh, but was expected to fully recover following medical attention.

Sorry, as for funeral services, I am sure that they are long over, as Spears died in 2004. Benitez's funeral arrangements have not been released to the press.
