    Hi,
    As far as Tamilnadu is concerned. Department of Employment and Training is functioning as a separate Directorate. At present, this Directorate is functioning in Chepauk, Chennai-5.

    In every District, a District Employment Office is functioning. Besides, a state level Employment Exchange for registering candidates with qualifications of professional and executive standards and a special Employment Exchange for Physically Handicapped are functioning in Chennai. For registering candidates with qualifications below S.S.L.C. of Chennai District, a separate Employment Exchange is functioning in Chennai. In Chennai and Coimbatore, separate Employment Exchanges are functioning for technically qualified persons. Apart from this, Special Vocational Guidance Centre for Tribal Population is functioning in Uthagamandalam, Sankarapuram , Salem and Tiruvannamalai and Coaching-c*m-Guidance Centre for SC/ST is functioning in Tiruchirapalli, Coimbatore, Tirunelveli, Vellore and Cuddalore.

    OBJECTIVE:

    Employment Exchanges register job-seekers and nominate them against vacancies notified. There is no minimum prescribed qualification for registering with Employment Exchanges. Any Indian citizen could register with the employment exchanges situated in his place of residence.

    REGISTRATION:

    In Tamil Nadu, candidates with qualifications at Graduate and Post-Graduate level in Professional and Executive line could register their educational qualifications with the Professional and Executive Employment Exchange, Chennai. Candidates who possess educational qualifications other than of professional and executive standard could register their educational qualifications with the respective Employment Exchanges in their districts. Technically qualified candidates in Chennai and Coimbatore could register their educational qualifications with the Employment Exchanges functioning in the respective places for technically qualified persons. Candidates in possession of qualifications of Professional and Executive standards could also furnish the details of their educational qualifications with the respective Employment Exchanges in the districts. Such details will be forwarded by the Employment Exchanges situated in the districts to the Professional and Executive Employment Exchange, Chennai which in turn will register the candidates and send the identity cards direct to the candidates. Candidates in possession of experience could register their experience with the Employment Exchanges not later than two years from the date of discharge. Apart from this, persons who are appointed based on the nomination effected by the Employment Exchanges could intimate the fact of discharge from jobs, within 90 days from the date of discharge, to the Employment Exchanges and re-register. Any delay in this regard could be condoned up to a period of 18 months. Provision is also available for persons already in employment for registering their higher qualifications to seek suitable better opportunities by producing a ‘No Objection Certificate’ from the present employer. Special Cells are functioning in Employment Exchanges in Kancheepuram, Vellore, Trichy, Cuddalore, Thanjavur, Coimbatore, Erode, Uthagamandalam, Salem, Madurai, Tirunelveli, Tuticorin and Nagercoil for registering and offering placement services to Physically Handicapped candidates.

    RENEWAL OF REGISTRATIONS:

    Candidates should renew their registrations with the Employment Exchanges once in three years. Candidates who fail to renew registrations in due time could apply for renewal up to 18 months from the month during which the renewal falls due. This concession can be availed only once.

    TRANSFER OF REGISTRATIONS:

    Candidates could register with the Employment Exchanges functioning in their respective districts. Candidates who seek transfer of registrations to another district should produce residence certificate issued at the level of Tahsildar pertaining the new residential status. There should be a minimum of one year gap between successive transfer of registrations. This condition will not apply to the wards of Government Servants who are under orders of transfer.

    PRIORITY HOLDERS IN EMPLOYMENT:

    As far as the vacancies being filled through the nomination effected by the Employment Exchanges in Central Government are concerned, vacancies are filled in the ratio of 1:1 between priority holders and non priority holders. But, in respect of vacancies being filled through the nominations effected by Employment Exchanges in State Government, State Government undertakings and Local Bodies, vacancies are filled in the ratio of 1:4 between priority and non-priority holders.

    (i) PRIORITY HOLDERS IN VACANCIES UNDER CENTRAL GOVERNMENT:

    1. Surplus employees (other than class IV) registered with Central( Surplus Staff) Cell of the Department of personnel who do not get redeployed through the Cell within the prescribed period of 6 months; surplus class IV employees registered with the Director General of Employment and Training, Special Cell, disabled Ex-servicemen.

    2. Disabled Border Security Force Personnel.

    3. Upto two members each of the family of Defence Services Personnel killed in action or severely disabled.

    4. Discharged Central Government Employees.

    5. Demobilised personnel of the Armed Forces

    6. Physically Handicapped persons.

    7. Repatriates from Burma and Sri Lanka.

    (ii) PRIORITY HOLDERS IN VACANCIES UNDER STATE GOVERNMENT

    1. Disabled Ex-servicemen.

    2. Upto two members of the family of the enrolled personnel of the Armed Forces who were killed or disabled in action.

    3. Destitute widows.

    4. Inter caste married couple.

    5. Ex-servicemen and wives, sons and Unmarried daughters of serving Military Personnel, and one son or one unmarried daughter or wife provided Ex-servicemen themselves have not utilised the priority and the legal heirs of the Freedom Fighters and Tamil Sevants.

    6. Burma and Sri Lanka Repatriates.

    7. Members of the family (including members of Scheduled Caste / Scheduled Tribe) whose lands have been acquired for Government purposes.

    8. Discharged Government employees (State).

    9. Physically Handicapped persons.

    10. Inmates and Ex-inmates of Approved Schools and Vigilance Institutions under the Government of Tamil Nadu and the heirs (son / daughter ) who have lost both father and mother.

    11. Ex-personnel of Territorial Army.
