   Hi There,
   I think it may have originally been called the patty cake as in
   "Patty cake patty cake bakers man bake me a cake as fast as you can - mix it and bake it and mark it with B and put it in the oven for Baby and me ( or something like this)
   Possibly originating in merry old england and for the record these used to be called patty cakes some time ago but seem to have translated to the american expression of a cupcake -
