    Hi,
A raw water sea pump impeller should last quite a while providing the boat owner has not started it out of the water. Without the flushing attachment installed on the outdrive when running can damage the impeller described in as little as 15 seconds. As far as the low compression It could be a head gasket but you will only find out once the head has been removed and a visual inspection of the gasket has been conducted. Remove valve cover and make sure the push rods are all in place and valves are opening during engine rotation. You can remove all spark plugs, squirt some oil in number 3 cylinder. redo compression test. If compression goes up its usually the cylinder. If it goes stays the same its in the head.
    Hope it helps
