what causes the compressor on my freezer to run for 3-5 min and then stay off for 13-15 min.?

    The reason behind this is very simple when freezer reaches the coolest point it trips. It stays the same way till there is a change in the temperature again. So the compressor again start running when temperature increase is there inside the freezer. 

   
   

   The same way the air conditioning mechanism works. It is good for the life of your freezer. It save energy for you and reduces your electricity bill.
