I will be visiting london for 5 days in March. I have been reading about pay as you go oyster card, which can be topped up from any of the tube stations and travelcard which is a card I can buy once and just keep using it.  I'm only in london for 5 days would paying for 7 day card be wise or should i just stick with pay as you go oyster card?

go for 7 days card, why buy the oyster card and then add money to it for pay as you go when you can simply buy the travelcard and travel as much as you want.  Don't count the trees just eat the apples.

I understand where you are coming from, why pay for 7 days when you are only in town for 5 days but it makes sense when paying for seven days is cheaper then paying for 5 days.  People living in London know this well, if you are traveling 5 or more days in London then always go for a 7 day Travelcard because it is a way better value than a Pay As You Go Oyster Card.  I can explain the reasons but I don’t think you care why, answer to your question is buy yourself a 7 day travelcard and have fun.
