Several groups have made predictions about the impact that AIDS will have on India and the rest of Asia in the future, and there has been a lot of dispute about the precision of these estimates. For example, a 2002 analysis by the CIA's National Intelligence Council predicted 20 million to 25 million AIDS cases in India at the end of 2010 more than any other country in the world. But according to the India's government these details are completely inaccurate. The government has also disagree on the predictions about India’s epidemic is on an African trajectory, although it claims to acknowledge the seriousness of the crisis.

Indeed, present surveys do represent that national HIV prevalence has probably fallen slightly in recent years. This trend is mainly because of the drop in infections in southern states; in other part there has been no significant reduction. In the north-east region of the India, the dual HIV epidemic is caused by unsafe s*x and injecting drug use is extra ordinarily concerning.Additionally, there are several region in the northern states where HIV is maximizing, especially among injecting drug users. . Yet India requires ample resource quantities in order to obtain universal access to HIV prevention and treatment programs.
