   Hi,
   In most cases the time is found on the right side.
   
   Not winding the strike side could cause  a clock to jam up and stop.
   
   Look into the back of the clock and find the hammer. The hammer or hammers fall onto the rods creating the tone. If you want to silence the clock bend the hammer up and away from the rod.
