    Pinching on St. Patrick's day is believed to have started in the early 1700s.It was believed that wearing green colour made the person invisible to the Leperchauns. Because whom ever they saw they pinched them, so pinching  on St. Patricks day is to warn and aware the general people about the evil influence of lurking  lepurchans.
