The lakeside Shopping Center is the seventh largest in Britain with 1,434,000 sq ft. Shopping center is located in west Thurrock, in the borough of Thurrock Essex just beyond the eastern boundary of Greater London. The foundation of the store is laid by the princess Alexandra, Marcus Bradford and Angus Ogilvy.
The shopping center forms one of the largest areas in a single location within Europe, with almost 2,600,000 sq ft of retail space on a site of 200 acres. After the opening of the store on 25 October 1990 a community of Chafford Hundred has grown to the east of the center since its opening. Bluewater shopping center, is the main rival of the Lakeside Shopping Center.
The Lakeside Shopping Center contain over 250 shops, including 4 Anchor shops, 50 cafes and restaurants and a 26-acre lake named Alexandra Lake with a PADI certified school complex. Lakeside has an average of 500,000 visitors a week.
The Lakeside Shopping center is open to public on weekdays from 10am till 10pm, On Saturday from 9am till 9pm and on Sunday from 11am till 5 pm. The capacity of the car park of the center is 13,000.
