would i have to drop out of training to become model?

I have currently just finnished my GCSE's and am looking for a hairdressing apprenticship for 2 years to get the qualifications to become a hairdresser but my dream would be to be  model and as modeling jobs are hard to get i want to have hairdressing to fall back on but am i still aloud to join a modeling agency while i am training to be a hairdresser untill i know whether modeling in a stable anough career for me?
