It could be a bad ignition module if the engine is turning but just doesn't start. My 88 GMC 2500 had this problem and it was an easy fix. Although I first replaced the spark plug wires, distributor cap, and rotor using a process of elimination. The ignition module is right under the cap and only needs a screwdriver or small socket (depending on the type of s***w head) to remove once the two wired connectors are disconnected. Just remember to disconnect the battery first before removal. Also be sure the distributor cap is returned to its same correct position.
