Any known problems with NX-555

Just got ours, when playing the DVD, it cuts out after 5 minutes and goes to a grainy picture and extreme volume

It turns on and of by itself, when you use the remote or manually try to change the input it shuts off or any other function on the TV or remote. This does all these things on either ac or dc power. Any suggestions other than throwing it away?
