    Hi There,
The better solution will be to Remove and replace the window with the same construction as the remainder of the basement wall including waterproofing. Be very detailed about the waterproofing since it is in a window well. You may have to excavate additional earth in order to make the waterproofing join with the other on the wall. If so, you might as well fill in the window well to a grade level of about 20-30% more than the amount of earth that it takes to fill the well. Yes, make it a little hill. This will allow for the majority of the earth shrinkage that will occur over the next 5 years if filled with loose dirt.
My reasons for going this direction are the window well, an obvious low point, and the air space that will be trapped behind anything that covers the window on the inside. The moisture that will be trapped will cause problems. Building this area the same as the remainder of the wall, will have your wall consistent, and require the same construction through out your remodeling.
Please do not use fiberglass insulation as your insulation because it is simply asking for a mold problem. Sprayed foam or rigid foam boards are the most common logical insulation materials for this use.
    hope it helps
