Is sincere the dumbbell -NGO superstars? Think luminaries trivialize certain problematic situations in the world to claim a higher share of celebrity?

Are there famous VER- DA -DE -RA -MEN -TE committed? It seems that reality proves it: every day grows the number of actors, actresses and singers who join your destination to make more visible the misfortunes of the world.

For example will suffice several buttons: George Clooney speaks at the United Nations on the crisis in Darfur; Sean Penn will build houses for Haiti earthquake victims, and our Gael GarcÃ_a Bernal goes to Hong Kong to discuss poverty.

From the best of its ability (or your imagination), some celebrities do what they can: Scarlett Johansson recently auctioned off a dinner with her to allocate funds for OXFAM (one of the largest non - governmental organizations worldwide).

Other Internet auction they can, Fernando Alonso gloves, tennis or Pau Gasol in order to obtain resources for an international charity committee.

Celebrity diplomacy

The English call it celebrity diplomacy (diplomacy famous) and virtually all actors, musicians, models, footballers are in it. Sometimes they create their own foundations, or associated with an NGO that recruits for their cause.

There are large non-governmental organizations such as Amnesty International and UNICEF, with sections devoted exclusively to manage the famous and even track "talent" and identify characters that fit with the image they want to project, as highlighted in a recent interview, the British journalist John Carlin.

An example is Angelina Jolie, who has been involved to such a degree in the problem of political refugees in the world who constantly visit camps in Ethiopia, Cambodia, Tanzania, Thailand, Kosovo, Sri Lanka, Chad, Li bathroom and even Iraq. Jolie and her husband Brad Pitt have donated not only their time, but several million dollars to "good cause."

The first will always be the first

According to Carlin, the first seeds were planted in the sixties with actors Danny Kaye and Audrey Hepburn, in whose honor the invented title of UNICEF Goodwill Ambassadors. Hepburn devoted the rest of his life, until his death in 1993, to help the world's poorest children.

The phenomenon hit a qualitative leap in concert LIVE AID 1985 in which artists from around the world, organized by the Irish musician Bob Geldof, came together to raise awareness of world poverty to Africa.

Not to mention Bono, the omnipresent, who sponsors many causes and many will question their absolute solidarity. At least, the superstars help visualize conflict and try to find solutions. And that is appreciated.
