I'm not a 100% "Expert" on External Drives, but I have had this problem a couple of times. First of all, since the drive is making a clicking noise, indications are that the drive is unrepairable. But, I have had that noise occur when there was not significant power going to the drive, or when the small PC board inside the enclosure was bad. I don't know how tech savvy you are, but to let you know,  I tried a lot of ways to get the drive to give me at least a little something and nothing worked until I replaced the PCB on the drive itself with one from an extra drive of the same size (2.5 or 3.5) that I had. It worked i my situation, but I can't guarantee it will work in yours.

    Good Luck!
