Everyone who has a child is entitled to claim Child Benefit. Additional support is also available for families who have particular requirements, such as children with special needs, lone parent families, expecting a baby and so on. This help is provided by different sections of the Department for Work and Pensions, and HMRC.

On moving or traveling overseas, you are not entitled for benefits automatically. Actually the entitlement depends on whether your stay abroad is temporary or permanent. In order to claim benefits you must let your social security office or Jobcentre or Jobcentre Plus office know about your travel to abroad. And yes, your entitlement of benefits abroad also depends on which country you are going to.

From your question I feel you will move your family to UK while you yourself plan to stay/work in USA. I am not sure what type of benefit your family/children can get. I would advise you to check online estimators and advisors at Directgov UK’s website: Follow this link dwpe-services.direct.gov.uk/portal/page/portal/ba/lp
