As Canon VIXIA HF series camcorders becoming more and more popular among people, you may have problem of uploading Canon VIXIA HF video to iMovie, or Mac. Because some of Canon VIXIA camcorders cannot be compatible with iMovie, iMovie’ 08, iMovie’ 09, such as Canon VIXIA HF200, VIXIA HV30, VIXIA HFS100, etc. Or even though Canon VIXIA camcorders can be compatible with iMovie or Mac, but sometimes video off Canon VIXIA series is not recognized by iMovie due to different aspect ratio or video codec.

If you cannot import Canon VIXIA video like Canon VIXIA HV30, VIXIA HF200, VIXIA HF S100, etc to iMovie for editing, you need a powerful Canon VIXIA to iMovie Converter to convert Canon VIXIA AVCHD video to MOV, MP4, DV for iMovie firstly, then you can import them to iMovie to share or edit.

Thanks for sharing this useful post.

When you edit HDV/DV formats with adobe premiere, FCP or iMovie, you will find the HDV files are too large to eat up lots of CPU, so playing back these files are really choppy/jerky. In this case, you have to transcode HDV files to other video formats for better playing and editing.

The program I recommend to convert HDV video files is Aunsoft Video Converter for Mac which is a professional in converting HDV files to MOV, AVI for perfectly editing and playing.
