Final Cut Pro is a very sophisticated video editing program made by Apple and provides professional editing of any QuickTime compatible video format including DV, HDV, P2 MXF (DVCProHD), XDCAM, QuickTime MOV, QuickTime MP4 etc. It has become the choice for multimedia journalists using Apple computers and many Hollywood film makers. However, Final Cut Pro does not support MOD files, which poses a problem if you are using JVC, Panasonic or Canon camcorders that take MOD videos. So if you want to edit MOD in Final Cut Pro, you will need to convert MOD to Final Cut Pro supported formats.

The four steps below will guide you to import MOD to Final Cut Pro:

    Step 1: Add MOD files
Click the "Add File" button to add the MOD files you want to import to Final Cut Pro from your Mac hard disc. Then double click a file or select a file and click on "Open" to add it.

Step 2: Select the output format
Click the small arrow at the end of the Profile field, and you will see the Profile drop-up list. Move your mouse cursor to "HD Video" and click on the "HD MOV" profile. This option will let you convert MOD to FCP MOV. Then you can tick the "Apply to all" option that will convert all added MOD files into selected Final Cut Pro supported format. You can also convert MOD to FCP MP4 if it is what you prefer.

Step 3: Start to convert MOD to Final Cut Pro
Find the round Start button on the lower right part of the main interface to start the conversion. On the conversion window you can see the elapsed time and the remaining time. Now you can decide how to kill the time before the conversion is finished. Then just don’t forget to come back for the converted files you want to import to FCP.

Tip: You can also use Doremisoft Mac MOD Converter to do easy editing such as cropping, trimming, and video effects to your MOD files, click here to see how.

Step 4: Import converted MOV to Final Cut Pro
Launch Final Cut Pro and you can see the layout of the Final Cut Pro Interface. From under the File command at the top of the interface, select "Import" and "Files". Then select one converted file from the Choose a File window and press the "Choose" button to choose this file. Then find the file in the resources list for the project and drag the file into the Timeline and then save the project.

Now you have successfully imported MOD to Final Cut Pro and just start editing!
