    The average person has 1,460 dreams a year.

    You experience an average of four dreams a night, and in the course of that, your dreams become progressively longer. Your first dream of the night may only last around ten minutes, but your final dream will invariably last as long as 45 minutes.

    The design for the Taj Mahal appeared to Emperor Shah Jehan in a dream. An architect hired to draw up plans for the building was given a drug so that he too would experience a vision of the building before starting work.

    Mid-way through a financial meeting just before 5pm on 7 October 1571, Pope Pius V suddenly announced that there had been a Christian victory. Two weeks later on 21 October, a messenger form Venice rode into Rome with news that a Christian fleet had vanquished the Turks at Lepanto. The official report of the battle stated that victory had been confirmed shortly before 5pm on 7 October.

    In May 1812 a Cornish innkeeper had a dream on three successive nights about the shooting of a leading politician in the House of Commons. He had no idea of the identity of the man in his dream but a friend said the description matched that of the Prime Minister, Spencer Perceval. Several days later, news reached Cornwall that Perceval had been shot dead in the lobby of the House of Commons.
