   The average person has 1,460 dreams a year.
   
   You experience an average of four dreams a night, and in the course of that, your dreams become progressively longer. Your first dream of the night may only last around ten minutes, but your final dream will invariably last as long as 45 minutes.
   
   David Booth, a Cincinnati office manager, phoned American Airlines after having nightmares on ten successive nights about a DC-10 crash. Three days later, on 25 May 1070, an American DC-10 crashed at Chicago, killing 273 people.
   
   King Wilhelm I of Württemberg complete the building of Rosenstein Castle in 1829, but didn’t move in for another 35 years because a gypsy had predicted that the king would die there. He finally thought it safe to take up residence in the castle in 1864 and died five days later.
   
   Italian composer and violinist Giuseppe Tartini dreamed the music for his finest work, “The Devil’s Sonata”.
   
   Julia Grant, wife of US General Ulysses S. grant, wok on the morning of 14 April 1865 with a strong feeling that she and her husband should get out of Washington as quickly as possible. General Grant had been due to attend the theatre with President Lincoln that night, but his wife insisted that he pulled out. Leaving the city, the Grants, passed John Wilkes Booth on his way to assassinate Lincoln at the theatre. General Grant was also found to be on Booth’s hit list.
   
   The design for the Taj Mahal appeared to Emperor Shah Jehan in a dream. An architect hired to draw up plans for the building was given a drug so that he too would experience a vision of the building before starting work.
   
   Mid-way through a financial meeting just before 5pm on 7 October 1571, Pope Pius V suddenly announced that there had been a Christian victory. Two weeks later on 21 October, a messenger form Venice rode into Rome with news that a Christian fleet had vanquished the Turks at Lepanto. The official report of the battle stated that victory had been confirmed shortly before 5pm on 7 October.
   
   In May 1812 a Cornish innkeeper had a dream on three successive nights about the shooting of a leading politician in the House of Commons. He had no idea of the identity of the man in his dream but a friend said the description matched that of the Prime Minister, Spencer Perceval. Several days later, news reached Cornwall that Perceval had been shot dead in the lobby of the House of Commons.
