   Hi There,
   My advice is to replace the detector with another, more common brand -- and not just because I don't have any information on the Nortron line.
   
   Most manufacturers recommend replacing smoke detectors after their "useful life," which is about 10 years. Your detector(s) clearly fall in that range.
