SIM University (UniSIM) is the first and only local university in Singapore dedicated to working adults. Established in 2005, UniSIM is approved by Singapore's Ministry of Education (MOE) to award recognised Singapore degrees.  Since July 2008, MOE subsidises tertiary education at UniSIM for eligible adult Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents as part of the national initiative to promote continuing education and training.  All current UniSIM degree programmes are also approved by MOE as a means for non-graduate teachers to upgrade their qualifications.

UniSIM is uniquely positioned to meet the higher educational needs of adult learners and develop a high quality workforce. Multiple learning paths are tailored to cater to the diversity of academic qualifications and work experience of its students, and their personal learning and career aspirations. The entire range of adult learners from young working adults aged 21 years and above, to retirees with a wealth of life experience, will discover valuable lifelong learning opportunities at UniSIM.

Students are attracted to the university’s high academic standards, its programme quality and diversity, the industry-relevant focus, the flexibility of its learning environment and the multiplicity of its partnerships and activities. They will enjoy the pursuit of higher education without sacrificing career, family or social responsibilities.

More than 11,000 students and 10,500 alumni will attest to that. Minister for Education, Mr Tharman Shanmugaratnam (the then Minister for Education), also commended UniSIM in his Budget Speech as the dedicated provider of “open-style university education for adult learners”.

Today, UniSIM offers more than 40 academic programmes through four schools - School of Arts and Social Sciences, School of Science and Technology, School of Business, and School of Human Development and Social Services.

As a university set up for the people of Singapore, we encourage active engagement by UniSIM students and alumni in the continued development of the University in extending its social mission, repute and excellence to benefit more in our society.
