It is supposed to be Louis B Tiffany who originally was adopted by the New York Highlanders before they were the Yankees.  In 1877, Tiffany and Co. designed a medal of honor for the first police officer, who was shot in the line of duty. The medal featured the interlocking NY, which the Yankees adopted in later in the year 1909. This logo was created for the team in 1947 by Henry Alonzo Keller, and has since been modified. He was an artist and was popularly known as Lon Keller. He provided artwork for a number of pro sports teams and events including the New York Yankees but he is most recognized for designing the New York Yankee's emblem, first appearing in 1947. The significance of the logo is to help the reader identify the organization, assure the readers that they have reached the right article containing critical commentary about the organization, and illustrate the organization's intended branding message in a way that words alone could not convey. Talking about the New York Yankees, they are a professional baseball team based in the borough of the Bronx, in New York City, New York. They belong to Major League Baseball's American League East Division. Since 1923, the Yankees' home ballpark was Yankee Stadium, and is now supposed to be one of the world's most famous sports venues.
