Leeks and onions may not appear like the best candidates for very cold, but in detail, they both manage rather well in the freezer. You can hold your iced onions and leeks for up to six months. Their texture will be distinct after you thaw them, producing them better candidates for prepared nourishment bowls, for example broths, stews or pasta dressings, other than raw ones. The methods for very cold leeks and onions are nearly identical.

    • Peel the papery skin and any slim, dry out-of-doors levels off of your onions. Remove the strong, dry outside departs from your leeks.

    • Chop the onions into parts the dimensions and form you desire to use later. Cut your leeks in half lengthwise, then slash off and reject the peak couple of inches of their leaves. Wash the halved leeks methodically, and then cut up them into lesser parts if you wish. Discard the origin section.

    • Blanch your leeks if you wish. Place them into a vessel of boiling water for two minutes, and then move them to a basin of ice water for another two minutes.

    • Line an oven baking sheet with waxed paper. Arrange your cut up onions and/or leeks on the oven baking sheet in a lone layer. Put the oven baking sheet into the freezer and freeze for some hours or until the onions and/or leeks are absolutely frozen.

    • Transfer your iced onions and/or leeks to airtight freezer-safe containers. Use them inside three to six months.
