What is the reason for putting animals to sleep in shelters?

Because despite the incredible amount of adoptable/available pets in the United States, dog and cat Breeder's continue to churn out hundreds of thousands dogs and cats every year. This, along with unspayed/nuetered animals contributes to an astounding birth rate, that leads to far more animals than there are people to take them.
I don't care about what ever reasonable answers people are able to supply (however justified they are) putting animals to sleep is WRONG! Taking a alive beings life in your hands and deciding weather they're able to live or not is WRONG. They're not god. u r a-holes!!!! u dodos
