I am a student of class 8th. My teacher gave me a home work on earth quakes. I want to know, why does the earth have earth quakes?

    The outer crust of Earth is broken into massive, irregular pieces called "plates." These plates move very slowly, driven by energy forces deep within the earth. Earthquakes occur when these moving plates grind and scrape against each other.
