Why is it necessary to add the video content in sitemaps for Google to crawl it?

I have build up a song video site and I tend to know why I need to add a sitemap for videos for Google crawling.

    Adding videos sitemaps is an excellent way to make sure that Google knows about all the video content on your site, especially content that we might not otherwise discover via the usual crawling mechanisms adopted by Google.
