   Hi,
   Yes, heels may often be shortened a inch or so for comfort.  A reputable shoe repairman can evaluate your heels for the process of shortening them correctly and probably charge you about $25 a pair for the reduction process.  The problem is that often heels are now made of a one piece design in China and this can interfere with the shortening.
