i would check out the internet. A goats prime is about 2-4. 5 and 6 year old goats are not quite ready for retirement. 6 years old does not seem VERY old... at least not old enough to have hair loss. Goats can generally live to around 12 years.

A few questions to ask yourself. Does she have hair loss around the face? This is usually a sign of an elderly goat. Has she been breed lately? Another cause of hair loss. I found this bit of information on the internet. Is there a scaly lesion left behind were the hair is missing? This could be a sign of lice. Does she have a swollen Jaw line? This is a sign of worms. Is her coat getting ruff? Does she have the runs? This is one of the many signs of coxidea. Do you switch worming brands ever so often? Sometimes using the same brand to often can cause the worms to get used to it and learn to fight and ignore the wormers purpose. What environment is she in? A healthy one then I would assume that something simple is getting her. But really look at it, everyones goats p**p, and wether you like it or not, sometimes the living space just doesn't stay spick and span. If she eats to close to her own p**p, coxidea may be occurring. If you answer yes to any of these questions you can find more information on curing the disease. I also have much more information, so post back and I will check back often.

If all else fails you may want to take her to a vet. If she seems healthy.... healthy skin etc, I would consider waiting it out and see if things get better or worse.

Good Luck, Who knows maybe the problem is more simple then we all think! smiling smiley
