my kodak Easyshare Z1285 will not stay on and the lens will not retract???

    I had the same problem with my Kodak z1285.  I encountered the problem when my Kodak easyshare z1285 battery was running out of charge.  I wanted to get another picture so I kept powering the camera on.  Soon the camera would only stay on for a second and the lens would not retract.  Even with a fresh set of batteries the camera would only stay on for a second, the small led light would blink and the lens would not retract.  I eventually fixed the camera by using a Kodak Ni-Cad battery that came with the camera.  I had been using an after market Li-ion battery.  I powered the camera on while putting pressure to close the lens.  This cause the lens to retract in its proper position and the camera stayed powered on.  I then put the correct date and time and my Kodak z1285 was back to normal.  Hope this solution works for your camera.
