Ficus aurea, routinely renowned as the Florida strangler fig or simply strangler fig, golden fig, or higuerón, is a tree in the family Moraceae that is native to the U.S. state of Florida, the to the north and western Caribbean, southern Mexico and Central America south to Panama. The exact epithet aurea was directed by English botanist Thomas Nuttall who recounted the species in 1846. Older titles directed to this species were subsequent directed invalid.

They all share a universal "strangling" expansion behavior that is encountered in more tropical woodland species, mostly of the genus Ficus. This expansion behavior is an adaptation for developing in dark forests where the struggle for light-weight intense. These plants commence life as epiphytes, when their seeds, often bird-dispersed, germinate in crevices atop other trees. These seedlings develop their sources heading down and envelop the manager tree while in addition developing higher to arrive at into the sunlight zone atop the canopy.

Hope this answer would be enough for the question you have asked. Best of luck
