    Hi,
    A couple of things could cause this problem.  The first is a dead battery.  I would take the battery and get it tested first.  Second is a defective starter and third is the neutral safety switch.  Do the lights and radio work on the car?  If so, the battery is probably ok and then it would be the starter or the neutral safety switch.
