Imagine throwing away your state of the art CD player and half of your furniture to make room for something so splendid in design that you can’t even place it in time. Feast your eyes upon this music player, and you will be tempted to renovate your entire house to make the decor worthy enough to play host to this player that bridges the best of antiquities with the practicalities of the present day.

    J. David Weiss, director of Industrial Design for Fabrik Agency, set out to create a portable CD player that would be indestructible and whose design would pay tribute to the great music it played. The CDesign (See+Design) was made in collaboration with some electrical engineers from NC State University in Raleigh where Weiss is located and functions like a classic LP table. CDesign has a spinner motor on which the CD sits and onto which it is secured via the tone arm. The tone arm is fitted with a worm gear which moves the reader along the arm. The reader arm sits at the perfect angle of 45 degrees which eliminates the problems an earlier design with 90 degrees had. CDesign can be powered either by rechargeable batteries or electrically via a power cord.
