Croatia’s creative midfielder Luka Modric recently broke a bone in his leg whilst playing for Tottenham, but it is not just the Premier League side who will rue his absence.

    Modric is Croatia's lynchpin, the team's main focal point.

    They can qualify without him because of their decent position in the group, but will not progress very far in the World Cup finals without him.
